Inexpensive Nails

Painting my nails has always been a fun pastime for me. I get to see a new color every couple of weeks, It gives me something to do while watching a movie or show, and it helps keep my nails protected from breaking or damage.
Even though it's such an insignificant thing, I feel as though it keeps me more happy and creative. Just like painting your room green increases your inventiveness, or yellow for happiness.
But there are some downsides to this, as many of you probably know.

If you paint them too soon after using nail polish remover, you'll start to see little bumps or bubbles begin to form in your nails within minutes of applying. Or if you don't give them enough time to dry, little indentations will start to show up that you'll only be able to fix with more nail polish, which is a pain in the butt.

Even though those things can get annoying, the thing that really sets me off isn't the process of applying the polish at all. It's the process of going to the store and buying it, and seeing some of the ridiculous prices.

I don't think anyone should have to pay more than $5.00 dollars for a small glass bottle of paint that chips away within weeks. When I see prices that are ten dollars or more, it makes me wonder if they're really worth it or not.
So I came up with a little idea a while back that has worked for me ever since I started using it, and that is buying a cheapo colored nail polish, and then an expensive clear polish as a top layer.

I bought the Revlon Clear nail polish for about $6.00, and the Wet and Wild fast-dry for about $2.00 (which you can see in the picture below) I first put on 3 coats of Wet and Wild, which dry very nicely, they take about ten minutes for each layer. And after about a hour, I apply the Revlon Clear polish in a thick coat.

With the Revlon Clear polish on top of the Wet and Wild, the Wet and Wild doesn't chip as quickly as it normally would by itself. In the picture you see above, my nails had been painted for about a week, and there was barely any chipping, if any.

This is just suggestion for longer lasting nails while using a less expensive brand, and it works wonderfully for me.

Hopefully if you decide to try this, it will work for you as well.

Much love

The Healthy Diaries: Brownies

Since I can remember, I've always been a healthy person. I stopped drinking soda when I was 12, only ate candy on the holidays, and sometimes I would even sneak in some Reese's here and there.

Who knows why I changed my eating habits so young; maybe because I was a heavy girl and didn't want to gain any more weight, or maybe it was because I knew deep down some of the food I was eating was damaging to my body. I'm sure one day I'll have an epiphany about this, but as of right now it's still very vague.

Either way, I'm glad I did change my diet. I learned later on in life that I had a slow metabolism for my age, which didn't help my hourglass figure with an extra large gluteus maximus.

But those eating habits have carried on to my young adult years, only they're a little more extreme than not drinking soda and only having a few Reese's every couple of days.

I'm on what you call a gluten free slash dairy free slash sugar free diet right now. I've always enjoyed trying new things, and that includes dieting. It might seem extreme at first, but when you know what to buy and where to buy it, it's not that difficult to follow. Unless you're always around tasty smelling foods like pizza or pasta.

When on this diet, you soon realize that you have to cook/bake most of what you eat. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but most cook books or recipes online don't have what you need.

So my mother and I have come up with a few recipes that are gluten free slash dairy free slash sugar free that are surprisingly very good. The one I'm going to post about today is our Healthy Brownies.

Everything you need to know about how to make these delicious guys and what to buy is here in my very own YouTube video.

This took about a day to film and edit, so I hope you enjoy it.

Much love,

Victoria.
